Our story
A small Vermont farm raising the breeds we love.
Heritage Hen Farm started with three Buff Orpingtons in a backyard coop and one stubborn idea: that the chickens our grandparents kept — slower-growing, longer- lived, full of personality — were worth raising again.
A decade later we keep about 220 hens across twelve breeds on fourteen acres of rotated pasture in central Vermont. The flock free-ranges every day, comes home to secure coops at dusk, and never sees a layer pellet that isn't soy-free and non-GMO.
We collect eggs by hand twice a day, candle each one for fertility, and ship only on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday so your eggs aren't sitting in a postal facility over the weekend.
If you're starting your first flock, we're happy to chat — drop us a line on the contact page with any questions before you order.
